First-of-its-kind in Hawaii, Waikiki Yokocho quickly became a popular destination for the foodie community. As a design-assist delivery, the former 23,000sf basement space in Waikiki Shopping Plaza underwent a complete transformation, creating a home for 16 food tenants. Under the shell contract, the MEP infrastructure received a major overhaul and capacity of the grease waste and exhaust systems were increased to serve the new kitchens. Custom-built wooden storefronts were provided to tenants along with new restrooms and an interior staircase as common area improvements. Fit-outs for several tenants, including signature bar Nomu, were negotiated separately.
